Hi All
My name is Barbara and I have worked in Adult Education for the last 6 years.
Over the past 3 years I have been involved with teaching ESOL, I have my Cert.Ed and my TEFL qualifications (which seem to mean nothing at present) With the new Government legislation on charging fees for ESOL students I find myself in the rather unpleasant position of being without any teaching classes this year. My temporary contract finished in July and because of the new fees they could not justify renewing my contract as they did not know how badly the fees would affect the erolments.
Well it certainly has done that we are 700 enrolments down on last year, I have had to take a part time job in the nhs and looks like I shall be looking for another part time job to meet my financial responsilities.
I was thinking about teaching privately and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on how to get started. My local village all is a possibility, but I'm not sure about insurance and what to charge. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
