Question Qualifications checking

How can I check if the tutor I hire has the qualifications they say they do. Can I check some kind of register to see if they are a qualified, practising teacher? Is it unreasonable to ask the tutor to provide proof of their qualifications.

Ask to see proof. I would. I always offer to let parents see my qualifications. They can also ring up the school to check whether I work there, but I suppose for full time tutors this isn't an option. Check a CRB as well.

I don't really know where you would find out that sort of information. I know how schools do it , but we have a CV checking service. I will find out if there are places you can go to check. I think you can check someone agaainst list 99 if you have a concern

It is difficult to check qualifications. There is no one stop shop. Agencies will check qualifications if you want that extra bit of security.
