Default Teaching

Teaching students can be one of the most challenging and interesting professions that one can think of. Teachers build the foundations of a country by teaching generations of students who move ahead to become doctors engineers and management graduates. In every country there are different courses offered by the Ministry of education to train and qualify individuals to take up the profession. Teaching a student is not limited to imparting education only. It also involves mentoring and motivating the students and educating parents on how best they can help their kids to become successful in their lives.

Motivating a student is one of the most important skills that a teacher must learn. A teacher should always create a warm and friendly atmosphere in the classroom which will make the students learn without any inhibitions. An extremely formal atmosphere can hinder the learning process and create a mental blockade between the teacher and the students. Teaching should always be aided by audio visual kits, booklets, posters to make it interesting. Teachers should always determine some incentives for students who perform well. A ‘pat on the back’, weekend movies and visits to the library are some of the incentive which a teacher should think of. Many students have a natural inclination to learn and know more. A teacher should realize it and help the student generate more interest in the subject. It is important for a teacher to set specific goals for the students and help them to achieve those goals. If the goals are achieved the students will feel that they have attained success which will help them to reach higher goals. It is very common in a class that some students will be introverts who generally refrain from mixing in a group. A teacher should encourage them to participate in ‘icebreaking’ games which will help the student to come out of the cocoon. The teacher should also address students by their names as it helps the students to associate with the child quickly.

Parents have great expectations from their kids and sometime may force them to make a career move in which the kids are not interested. A teacher has a great role to play in this. It is a social problem and it is common in countries like India. If a student is not interested in a subject and forced by parents to take up higher studies it may lead to severe repercussions. A teacher is the best judge to understand the child’s capabilities and can counsel the parents on the best option. If the parents are convinced they will help their children to take a career path of their choice. It will help the child greatly and help him become more successful in his career. Teachers play a fundamental role in shaping a child in all aspect. A child grows into a young man by picking up traits which are taught in school. Teachers should realize these facts and make all possible efforts in shaping a child’s career.
