Default Motivating Pupils

What are your best tips for motivating pupils?

I find that nothing works better than sweets! A little reward for doing well. Little and often does the trick. Even the adults love getting a mini packet of chocolate buttons to munch on!! THey already want to pass so they are usually willing to accept what you say.

Sweets are good. My mum has promised me cash if I do well in my exams £50 if I get all As! I have mates who are getting £100 for every A, 50 for every B and 25 for every C. !!!!

I bribe all my students with cold hard cash. Any pupil that comes to every lesson and does every homework (with a C or above grade) gets a £5 note every term. Sadly I do not have to give out that many. I am thinking I may have to switch to chocolate on a more regular basis.

I bribe my private tutoring pupils with £10 to learn their tables. I wouldn't do it at school though. Too many might take me up on it!

High expectations. A good many kids have the worst expected of them and I think that creats many self fufiling prophesys. I tell my kids that there is no limit to what they can achieve. Aim High!
