Default How to become a tutor

Private tutoring is a means by which people satisfy their desire to impart knowledge to students. Some people do it as a hobby while others do it for generating some extra income out of it. The objective of offering private tuition is to help students to attain better grasp of the subject so that going forward they may be able to take it up as a career option. There are professionals who are associated with a subject and wish to impart their knowledge. This is one of the ways by which a private tutor starts off his classes. If you are a civil engineer with substantial experience in the industry a student studying the subject will be interested to understand the theoretical and practical aspect of the subject from you. This is one of the ways that a private tutor starts of his teaching career. Imparting knowledge to students is a noble profession and people start it as a hobby and in many cases it goes on to become a full time profession. As money starts rolling in you may want to teach a group of students in a classroom set-up and going further start a full fledged teaching institute.

University professors also help students to overcome difficulties faced in the class. In the United States and Canada they are known as a teaching assistant. Many professors and lecturers who have had a substantial run in their regular jobs decide to quit their jobs and start private tuition classes for students in their discipline. The fees that are charged for private tuitions vary and generally it is around £20-£40 per hour. If you are a successful private tutor then the amount of money that you can earn may be several times more than the normal salary that you may have earned in your regular college job. This is one of the reasons why many people quit their regular jobs and start of with private tuition class. Professors and lecturers after a long run in their regular jobs desire to have their own flexible work routines. Private tuition helps them to get this freedom as they can teach students at their own preferred timings.

If you have a good reputation as a teacher starting a private tuition class is very simple. Students will approach you for help in their subjects beyond the normal class hours. If you are interested you can start offering private tuitions and slowly this becomes your primary source of income. Sometimes a group of teachers decide to quit their regular jobs and start off with a private teaching institute. In countries like India this is very common and people see innumerable institutes offering private coaching for medical, engineering and management entrance exams. People should start private coaching only if they are interested in doing it. Making extra money should not be the only motive of starting a private tuition class. If you are not enjoying the job then sooner than later you will lose interest and the whole objective of teaching is lost.

I took IELTS too.

Your English seems very competent. I suggest trying exam practice books.
