Default When do you tutor?

For all of you who tutor as well as hold down another job. Do you tutor at the weekends.

I tend to stick to weekdays because it leaves my weekend free. Increasingly I am being asked to do saturday session but I feel like my life would be taken over. It is not that I don't enjoy teaching/tutoring, I do, but we all need a break sometimes!

Don't ever break your own rules of not working on the weekend. You need abreak from teaching or you will burn out. When I was poorer I used to do all the work that I could (even sundays) but I found that it was my real job that suffered because I was so tired. I even get in early to school so I don't take any schoolwork home with me.

Ooh I would never tutor on the weekends through choice. The only time I make this exception is for my Saturday mornng exam paper club which I run in the four weeks leading up to the exams. I am often surprised how many parent want a saturday and/or sunday. Poor kids!

Those of us who are at boarding school have to do school on Saturday mornings and yes it does suck. It is against all things natural to have to get up before 7am on a saturday morning. Mot to mention chapel on a sunday!!

Only the insane would work on the weekends through choice. Jacob, many of us have suffered the boarding school saturday blues. Just revel in the long holidays that your counterparts do not get!

No weekends, no bank holidays. I don't work when I am sick and I don't expect people to work when I am not. 3 years of long holidays has spoiled me for the real world I'm afraid.

I think that's a sensible rule. The nature of the beast is that it can creep across 7 days very quickly so you have to be clear in your mind about which days you want to tutor and which days you won't. Good for you for having some work/life balance!
